Marshall Football: Last Second TD Dooms Herd in 51-49 Loss to MTSU

Marshall (4-3, 2-1) needed to make one more play. Middle Tennessee (4-4, 2-2) sat on the Thundering Herds 9-yard line, down 49-45 with three seconds left in the game. Barely a moment after the ball was snapped Blue Raiders quarterback Logan Kilgore found wide receiver Tavarres Jefferson in the front of the end zone for a touchdown. As MTSU celebrated a 51-49 victory in front of 19,898 fans at Floyd Stadium, a dejected group of Marshall players headed to the locker room, left to wonder what might have been.
