Marshall Football: Surprise Recruit Jalen Stevenson Starts Practice with Herd

On a day full of roster surprises Marshall added a big one this morning when defensive lineman Jalen Stevenson joined the Thundering Herd for the first day of August practice.

Stevenson’s 25 sacks as a junior set the single season record at Lakeland High School (FL). During his senior season the 6-foot-1, 200 pound defensive end registered 49 tackles, 10 sacks, and a fumble recovery in 11 games.

Despite having a scholarship offer from Indiana, Stevenson signed a letter of intent with Garden City Community College (FL) in February. As a junior college signee he must sit out the 2013 season but, Stevenson will be allowed to practice with the Herd for two weeks this August.
