Withrow Debuts with Crew

After being drafted in the second round of last week’s MLS supplemental draft, former Marshall University goalkeeper Daniel Withrow joined the Columbus Crew in Florida for pre-season training camp.

Yesterday, Withrow made his first appearance in a Crew uniform, replacing fellow backup goalie Matt Lampson in the 56th minute of Columbus’s exhibition match against the Chicago Fire. Entering the game with a 2-0 lead, Whitrow allowed a goal to Chicago midfielder Yazid Atouba in the 89th minute but was able to hold off a late Fire charge and maintain a 2-1 victory.
