Marshall Football: PSU Transfer Kersey Enrolls at MU

First reported by Scout.com (subscription), former Penn State wide receiver Shawney Kersey has transferred to Marshall University. A redshirt junior, Kersey left the Nittany Lions football program two games into the 2012 season, citing "personal reasons".

Kersey is the third former Penn State football player to transferred to Marshall following the Jerry Sandusky child sex-abuse scandal, joining corner back Derrick Thomas and fellow wide receiver Devon Smith. As a graduate student Kersey should be eligible immediately with one season of eligibility remaining.

Standing six-foot-one, 197 pounds, Kersey was seldom used at Penn State. In four years he caught 12 passes for 154 yards. Kersey entered 2012 as the Nittnay Lions most experienced receiver, recording 44 receiving yards on six receptions before calling it quits.
